Over 120 people showed up from all five of Georgia Highlands College’s locations on April 14th for the seventh annual GHC Public Speaking Competition in Cartersville.
On April 13, 2017 Hiram High School Stinger Battalion conducted its annual inspection. The cadets and staff where evaluated on student lead briefings, portfolios, drill, color guard, and overall impression from the evaluators.
The Paulding County Patriots have a new banner to hang in their gymnasium. The Lady Patriots captured the region crown by going 7-1 in area play. The Lady Patriots are now the #1 seed from Area 7 going into the state playoffs.

Three local high school students have been selected to represent Carroll Electric Membership Cooperative on a once-in- a-lifetime trip to Washington, D.C. as part of the Washington Youth Tour, an all-expenses paid leadership experience.
On March 31, 2017, EPHS DECA and EPHS Baseball held a Public Safety Night at the Hiram vs. East baseball game.
Recently, several students from Mr. Rodney Tumlin's AP Environmental Science classes finished a 9 mile paddle on the Etowah River. It was their second paddle of the year. They call themselves the "River Rats!"
The South Paulding High School Army JROTC Cadets completed they Service Learning Project on 11 March at the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home in Palmetto, GA.
Georgia Highlands College continues to grow with a consistent swell in enrollment. Spring enrollment is up 3.9 percent. This increase follows a 4.6 percent increase last fall, a 9.9 percent increase last summer and a 6.3 percent increase last spring.
East Paulding Raiders baseball team had a very successful week on the diamond. They are currently riding a 5 game winning streak and are currently 5-2 in region play. After a sweep of Woodland the previous week the Raiders stayed hot and swept.
Paulding County Track Championships North Paulding sophomore Kendyl Dunn won the girls pole vault by clearing 10' 2" Norths squad captured both the boys and girls team titles. East Pauldings Jalen Browder edged out South Pauldings Jordan Anderson in the 100 meter in 10.94 seconds.
Georgia Highlands College is working to educate about and promote the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) this year with the introduction of a series of workshops called “First Friday FAFSA.” The workshops are free and open to the public.
