Jason Ragsdale welcomed Family Alliance of Paulding Executive Director Linda Verscharen to the Paulding County Rotary meeting. Mrs. Verscharen gave an overview of the Family Alliance of Paulding for those new members, who might be unaware of the purpose that the Family Alliance serves in Paulding County.
Paulding County area residents came out to White Oak Park to clean up, as part of the continuing statewide campaign to clean and preserve over 70,000 miles of Georgia’s rivers and streams. The effort was part of Rivers Alive, a joint program of the Environmental Protection Division’s Outreach Education Programs and the Department of Community Affairs’ Keep Georgia Beautiful Program.

Kenneth Higginbotham of Dallas underwent WellStar Paulding Hospital’s first percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedure September 18. Abdul Sheikh, M.D. was the interventional cardiologist who performed the minimally invasive procedure.
The American Legion recently recognized four veterans for their outstanding volunteerism at Post 111 in Dallas. Those honored were Max Thomas and George Delmar Cook, both U.S. Air Force veterans, Billy Cooper, a U.S. Marine and Harold Thomason, who served in the U.S. Army.

Featured award presentations went to individuals from the Paulding County Sheriff and Fire Departments, Marshall’s Bureau, District Attorney’s Office, E911 Center, the City of Dallas Police Department, the City of Hiram Police Department and Metro Atlanta Ambulance Service.
September 6, 2017, the Mayor of Hiram, Teresa Philyaw, presented a proclamation declaring the week of September 4 through 8, International Literacy Week to the students in the Paulding Adult Education Program. September 8, 2017, is International Literacy Day worldwide.
