Saturday, August 18th, 2018 kicked off the 2018 Cross Country season for East Paulding, as they opened up at the Hoya 2 Mile Invitational. The Raiders ran with a depleted squad as the varsity runners had the weekend off in preparation for the upcoming weeks. Almost equaling the number of runners last year at this race, East Paulding was out to show their depth and size of their team for this season.
The Hiram Hornets edged out the Paulding County Patriots on the diamond in action last week by a score of 4-3 in an early region game. The Hornets scored the winning run in their last at-bat to prevent the visiting Patriots from getting the victory.
The Paulding County Patriots softball season got underway last week as the Patriots opened up by splitting a pair of games against McEachern and South Paulding. The Patriots are a relatively young team this season as they only have one senior on their roster.
Heading for the end of 3rd qtr #86 score and Hiram scored a safety, ending the 3rd with NP 22 - HH 26. With 1:45 left in the game #98 Hornets scored and ending the game with the score being North Paulding Wolfpack 22 and Hiram High Hornets 32.
The North Paulding baseball team was eliminated from the state playoffs by the Hawks of Mill Creek High School as they lost a doubleheader on Wednesday by scores of 6-4 and 5-2 in Gwinnett County.
After defeating Walton in round one in Marietta the Pack traveled to Coweta County and faced the Newnan Cougars on their home turf. Unphased, the Pack dismantled the Cougars 12-0 and 6-4 in a double-header.
East Senior Abby Miller ended her high school career in style, netting two second-half goals to lead the way. Junior Lauren Bergevine opened the scoring a minute before halftime to put the Lady Raiders on the board. Goalkeeper Miyana Mondesir made an outstanding second half save, reaching high to deflect a shot over the frame and preserve the shutout.
The South Paulding Spartans season came to a close on Friday night as they fell to the Harrison Hoyas of Kennesaw by losing both games of a doubleheader in the first round of the state playoffs, The hosting Spartans had game one in hand but yielded 5 runs to the Hoyas in the 7th inning to lose 9-5.
The SPHS girls tennis team has made history for their school after winning the region tournament this year. The girls, coached by Michaela Hicks and Emily Rampley, finished undefeated in region play.

The Paulding County Lady Patriots soccer team closed out their season on the pitch last week with a 3-1 loss to Sandy Creek in a non-region affair. The defending region 5 5-A champions lost 8 Seniors from last years squad and this season was a rebuilding process as the Patriots were 3-5 in region play.
The South Paulding Spartans baseball team garnered the #2 seed in region 5(6A) and will host Harrison on Thursday in a doubleheader and play Friday if necessary. The Spartans finished the regular season 14-2 in region play.
The North Paulding Lady Wolfpack Soccer Team enters into their 8th consecutive State Playoff appearance in 2018. North will take on the GA State Powerhouse Walton Raiders in the first round of the Playoffs.
