The South Paulding Spartans boys basketball teams bid for a state title came to an end Wednesday night as they fell to their counterpart from Cobb county by a score of 40-37. The South Cobb Eagles team from Austell came to Paulding and advanced to the final four with a victory over the #1 ranked Spartans.
The Chattahoochee Tech Lady Golden Eagles advanced to the semifinals of the GCAA tournament in a tight 77-75 win over Central Georgia Tech on Tuesday night at the Smyrna Community Center.
Jamion “J.J.” Simpson has been named the GCAA Division I Men’s Player of the Week for Feb. 20-26. Simpson’s play helped the Golden Eagles to two conference wins in three games in that span as he averaged 23 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.3 steals per contest.
After finishing the regular season with a 20-10 overall record and 5-9 conference mark, the Chattahoochee Tech Lady Golden Eagles are set to host a first-round GCAA tournament game this Tuesday after earning the league’s fourth seed.

The Golden Eagles men routed East Georgia State 93-66 in their second-to-last regular-season game, getting 24 points apiece from Keith Ray and Jamion Simpson. The Lady Golden Eagles fell 66-58 to East Georgia State but will host a first-round game in the GCAA tournament on Tuesday night.
The Paulding County High School lady Patriots soccer squad improved their record to 3-1(1-0) on the young season with a 5-1 victory over the visiting lady Longhorns.
EMERSON – Chattahoochee Tech basketball took both games at LakePoint on Monday night against Central Georgia Tech in crucial GCAA contests, with the women winning 71-65 and the men getting a 96-91 victory.
South Paulding defeated Cambridge High from Milton Georgia 70-49 in the first round of the State playoffs. The Spartans will now host Coffee County in round 2 Thursday.
Both Chattahoochee Tech basketball teams came away with important GCAA wins Sunday afternoon at LakePoint despite late pushes by Atlanta Metropolitan College. The women opened with a dramatic 67-66 victory after two last-second free throws by Sade Collins, and the men won 73-57.
South Pauldings Boys will host Cambridge High School from Milton in the 1st round of the State Playoffs. South Pauldings girls are also headed to State. Paulding County Highs Boys are also headed to State after a surprising performance in the region tournament.
The Chattahoochee Tech men’s hoops team outlasted South Georgia Tech at home on Wednesday night at LakePoint, winning 80-78. The Golden Eagles led by as many as 18 in the first half, but South Georgia Tech cut the halftime deficit to just seven points and even briefly held a second-half lead
Senior Kelsi Fizer poured in 36 poiints in her final home game leading the Spartans over Langston Hughes 57-47.
The Chattahoochee Tech men avenged a narrow home loss earlier in the week to Albany Tech by edging the Titans on Saturday 77-73. The Chatt Tech women’s team fell 76-60 to Albany Tech after defeating the Lady Titans five days earlier.
